Brooklyn Maternity Indoor Photographer
On a chilly Sunday morning I pulled up to the Bay Ridge home of Veronika and Nick. They booked my maternity/newborn combo so this would not be my only time with this couple. I knew as soon as I met them they were going to be so much fun to work with. Veronika had requested a more intimate indoor session where she can feel comfortable and embrace her time of pregnancy. My assistant Jacqueline and I set up two different sets; white and black backdrops. The first setup was a more seductive approach with my all black seamless background. Veronika chose my black lace mixed media slim dress for this set. Nick was all relaxed in a tee and a pair of jeans. Then I heard it….it was the classic smooth r&b tunes from the 90s. It took me right back in time. The playlist was compliments of Pandora which I now listen to when I edit. I knew it was going to be a great session. For my next set, I chose to dress up my white backdrop with sheer curtains to give that “window” glow approach that Veronika was looking for. This is what photographers would call “dreamlighting.” This is definitely my favorite way to shoot indoor maternity. It illuminates the background while also bringing light to the front. Veronika chose an ivory lace baby doll dress from my collection with a high slit in the front to bring focus to her growing belly. I’m looking forward to to seeing them again later this week and meeting their little man for his newborn session.
Here’s a peek into her indoor maternity session.
