NYC Baby Photography
I met baby John at his apartment in lower Manhattan in NYC. Referrals are always so important to my business. This session comes to me from a referral of a previous newborn client. We started the session with sweet images of mom & dad with baby. Typically in my sessions I start with the baby on the beanbag and finish with family but since dad had to leave for work we flipped the workflow. We are very flexible and accommodating to our working dads and always find a way to include them if requested. I think the black and white shots below really showcase the new love they have as parents and really stuck out to me in their gallery. We then transitioned into prop shots where we kept John wrapped in the potato wrap and placed him in the wooden bed. The part that always gets me nervous is the unwrapping into the new setups. Since the babies have been wrapped for a bit you fear they will startle and wake up as you unwrap them for other poses. What’s important to keep in mind is PATIENCE! If you have a sleepy baby you just need to unwrap very slowly and take your time. Keep them as tight as possible with your hands while you remove each wrap (I usually have 3). I have been doing this for over 4 years but this part never gets easy. Luckily for me John stayed asleep and we continued with the bucket shot where we were able to grab a pic with his fur sibling. He did wake up and need a brief feeding so we just prepped the beanbag for the final few shots. The session ended with a few simple naked poses on the beanbag. I even got a small smirk to complete the day.
