NYC Newborn Photographer | Ethan

NYC Newborn Photographer

I started off my busy week in mid-June meeting baby Ethan. I had met his parents the month prior in their NYC apartment for their maternity session. Now the focus was on their baby boy and his newborn session. The session concentrated on a grey and neutral palette. Mom had requested a few awake shots and my favorite wooden bed. Luckily for me, the bed was an easy win. Ethan just sank right into it perfectly and was sound asleep. On the other hand, I am always unsure how awake shots will go. I do try to emphasize they are never guaranteed as are any of my poses and it all really depends on the baby. Of course we want the baby asleep as it’s easier to pose a sleeping baby and of course for safety reasons. Most babies also can’t focus until about 3-4 weeks so it could be much more challenging to even achieve eye contact. But in the middle of the session for about 10 minutes Ethan opened his eyes as if it was on cue and gave us some silly and adorable awake expressions. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the timing and how content he was. After that it was back to business with a sleeping baby and finishing the session with parent shots.
